Crystal Cruz / Math Specialist

Crystal Cruz

Title I Math Specialist
Room: 124

Students come to Math Lab during their grade level intervention time --while the rest of their grade is in class also working on interventions. In the lab, students work in small groups to learn math concepts that are crucial for success in their homeroom. We practice these concepts through exploration, games, AND we are the only place on campus that offers i-Ready, a computer based adaptive diagnostic and instruction program. The goal is for students to deepen their mathematical conceptual understanding and return to grade level intervention.

About Me

I began my teaching career in Mesa Public Schools where I taught 4th grade. Then I moved on to teach junior high math where I learned so much about math and students' understanding of math. My favorite students were those that struggled at first and then seeing their eyes light up when they finally "got it". Those students made coming to work worth it! Being the Math Specialist at Boulder, I get to see eyes light up everyday... so, it's safe to say I love it here!!

After school, I get to go home to an awesome husband and our two adorable children (one of whom attends Boulder Creek). We enjoy doing things like exploring Arizona, visiting family, watching movies, playing soccer, and watching the U of A Wildcats and Dallas Cowboys games!
